Escape Room Tips and Tricks:
Both too many people and too few people can limit your ability to complete the escape game. I generally suggest 5-7 people, which means I often pay for all slots to have a private escape room for my own group.I then bring my own combination of
- (1 person) Project Manager (handles the people)
- (2-3 people) Searchers (clue finders)
- (1 person) Quarter Master (organizes objects)
- (1-2 people) Puzzle Solvers (brain)

Frustration can sometimes get the better of you. Some puzzles are far simpler than you may think and if one person cannot open a lock, have another person try the combination before deciding you have the wrong answer.
Additionally, if you feel you have spent to much time on a specific puzzle, look for another. You may not have all the pieces yet, or may be chasing a Red herring. Some escape room places add more false leads than others, I have even worked some rooms where there were no false leads only the correct order of puzzles.
Below are some additional tips and tricks on how to win at Escape Rooms.
- Start looking for locks immediately and then look for clues based on the type of lock (directional, color, number, letters).
- Search thoroughly, in things and under things (no need to force anything).
- Work on multiple clues at once, but communicate.
- Shout out new locks, new clues so everyone can hear.
- Listen to everyone, part of the reason you take different types of people is because people's experiences lead them to think differently.
- Do not be afraid to ask the Game Master to warn if you are falling behind the average group 15, 30 and 45 minute marks.
- Do not be afraid to ask for clues if you are behind the average group at some point, you will still feel better winning with a clue than not winning at all (I promise).
