Desert Diamond Casino - West Valley Wins and Will Open in Glendale 12/20/15

Glendale Arizona and Metro Phoenix Area local Gamblers will have a new venue to shake hands with Lady Luck starting December 20th, 2015 when the Tohono O'odham Nation opens a casino in the West Valley.

The Tohono O'odham Nation is a southern Arizona tribe who is scheduled to unveil its fourth casino in Arizona in Glendale, about a mile north of the Westgate Entertainment District near the University of Phoenix Stadium.

The Desert Diamond Casino West Valley marks a turning point regarding the limits of gaming compacts that have governed American Indian casinos in Arizona since the 1980's. The tribe has prevailed in a ruling over opponents that include other casino-operating tribes, city, state and federal officials and entities which have used the courts and public opinion to challenge the new casino.

Those that sought to quash the casino, claimed that agreements reached by the state and tribes during the purchase of the land don't allow the Tohono O'odham to open a casino on the land it purchased miles outside of its reservation boundaries. The Tohono O'odham fought back claiming that federal law allowed it to replace flooded reservation land and the state agreements do not prevent the tribe from building a casino on purchased land.

The tribe has prevailed in the legal battle and the tribe's temporary casino is set to open to the public on Sunday 12/20/15 and will remain open 24/7 while the fight continues to go from Class II Bingo Style Gaming Machines to a Class III Vegas Style gaming facility.

The concessions were made in part because the Arizona Department of Gaming withheld a full Class 3 gaming license, claiming the tribe committed fraud by not disclosing plans for the West Valley casino while negotiating its state compact.

Currently 16 different tribes operate 24 Class III gaming facilities in Arizona. Those Class III casinos may offer “Las Vegas style” gaming activities (slot machines, house-banked poker, and blackjack).

The Desert Diamond West Valley Casino and Resort will be built in phases. The Tohono O'odham are developing 135 acres at Northern and 95th avenues.

The first phase of the development is a low-profile building that will serve as the Class II casino.

The temporary casino is set to open with 1,089 gaming machines, which by cosmetic appearances look and operate like slot machines. The devices' mechanisms differ from true slot machines internally. They're actually bingo-based gambling devices, but the odds of winning are approximately the same as the odds of winning on traditional random number generated slot machines.

Some few machines in the Desert Diamond West Valley Casino will be linked to a network of other casinos nationwide and offer $1 million jackpots, which tend to pay out somewhere in the country 4-6 times a year.

Later, the tribe will convert the current building into a warehouse and a larger permanent Class III casino, hotel, shopping and convention center complex will be developed. If it is successful in court in overturning the state's ruling.

The Arizona Department of Liquor also has not yet granted a liquor license, it is expect to obtain it's liquor license around February 2016.

Little known Thanksgiving and Harvest Festival Facts and History

📅 Thanksgiving: A Blend of Ancient Harvest Festivals & American Traditions

Thanksgiving is a rich blend of traditions from Native American, British, and Puritan influences, shaped over centuries into the modern holiday we celebrate today. The story of Thanksgiving begins long before the Pilgrims' feast in 1621, with earlier harvest festivals and religious observances playing a significant role.

🦃 The True History of Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving history

The commonly told "First Thanksgiving" story dates back to 1621 in Plymouth Colony, but the real history is far more complex.

The Story of the 1621 Harvest Festival

  • In 1614, English explorers captured and enslaved Patuxet Native Americans, leaving behind a smallpox outbreak that devastated the local population.
  • When the Pilgrims arrived in 1620, the once-thriving Patuxet village was nearly empty, except for Squanto, the sole survivor.
  • Squanto taught the Pilgrims how to grow crops and fish and negotiated a peace treaty between the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag Nation.
  • In 1621, the Pilgrims and Wampanoag held a three-day harvest festival, which later inspired the modern Thanksgiving celebration.

Did you know? The "First Thanksgiving" feast did NOT include mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, or pumpkin pie! Instead, the menu likely featured venison, seafood, corn, and seasonal vegetables.

🦃 Other Claims to the First Thanksgiving

📍 1598: San Elizario, Texas – Spanish explorer Juan de Oñate held a Thanksgiving feast near El Paso after leading settlers across the desert.
📍 1619: Berkeley Plantation, Virginia – English settlers declared an annual day of thanks upon their arrival, two years before the Plymouth feast.
📍 1578: Canada’s First Thanksgiving – Explorer Martin Frobisher celebrated Thanksgiving in Newfoundland, decades before the Pilgrims.

👉 Thanksgiving has been observed in various ways long before 1621, making it a tradition rich in history beyond the Pilgrims' feast.

🦃 The Evolution of Thanksgiving in America

1800s: The "First Thanksgiving" Narrative Takes Shape

  • By the early 19th century, the 1621 harvest feast was revived as a symbol of American unity.
  • Alexander Young popularized the idea of a "First Thanksgiving" based on Edward Winslow’s 1621 letter.

1863: Lincoln Declares Thanksgiving a National Holiday

  • During the Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed Thanksgiving a national holiday, celebrated on the last Thursday of November.

1941: Franklin D. Roosevelt Sets Thanksgiving Date

  • FDR moved Thanksgiving to the fourth Thursday of November to extend the holiday shopping season during the Great Depression.

👉 Thanksgiving as we know it today is a mix of historical traditions, presidential proclamations, and cultural adaptations.

🍽️ Thanksgiving Food Traditions – Then vs. Now

🥔 Mashed PotatoesNot part of the 1621 meal (potatoes had yet to arrive in North America).
🦃 Turkey – Smaller than today's 20-pound birds, and may not have been served at all!
🍷 Cranberries – Used by Native Americans for dyes and medicine, but not in sauce form.
🥧 Pumpkin Pie – Based on a 1653 French recipe, not present at the 1621 harvest feast.
🥧 Pecan Pie & Sweet Potatoes – Introduced by the South in the late 19th century.

👉 Victorian-era traditions shaped modern Thanksgiving menus, introducing turkey and cranberry sauce!

🦃 Fun Thanksgiving Facts You Might Not Know

📌 Thanksgiving Football Tradition – Began with a Yale vs. Princeton game in 1876.
📌 First Thanksgiving Day ParadeGimbels Department Store in Philadelphia, 1920.
📌 Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade (1924) – Second oldest parade, featuring giant balloons!
📌 Black Friday Origin – The day after Thanksgiving marks the official start of holiday shopping.
📌 Native American National Day of Mourning – Held on Thanksgiving Day to honor the tragic history of colonialism.

🦃 Thanksgiving Around the World

🌎 Thanksgiving isn't just an American holiday! Many cultures have harvest celebrations:

🍁 Canada’s Thanksgiving (Since 1957) – Celebrated on the second Monday of October.
🎑 China’s Mid-Autumn Festival (Zhong Qiu) – A moon festival of gratitude.
🌾 India’s Onam Festival – A harvest celebration in Kerala.
🇬🇧 Britain’s Harvest Festival – Observed in September or October.

👉 Thanksgiving may have evolved differently across cultures, but the spirit of gratitude and feasting remains universal!

🦃 Presidential Turkey Pardon Tradition

🐔 Did you know? The Presidential Turkey Pardon is often credited to Harry S. Truman, but John F. Kennedy was the first to "officially" pardon a turkey in 1963.

📌 Abraham Lincoln may have started the tradition when he spared his son’s pet turkey.

🎉 Final Thoughts – The True Meaning of Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving has evolved from early harvest celebrations to a national holiday centered around family, food, and gratitude. While its origins are complex, the modern celebration reflects a blend of historical influences and new traditions.

🔥 As you gather around the table this Thanksgiving, take a moment to reflect on its rich history and diverse origins!

Remember the 5th of November, the Gunpowder Treason and Plot

The Gunpowder Plot of 1605 remains one of the most infamous assassination attempts in British history. A group of English Catholics, led by Robert Catesby, conspired to blow up the Palace of Westminster during the state opening of Parliament to assassinate King James I and his ministers. The goal? To replace him with his Catholic daughter, Princess Elizabeth, and end years of Catholic persecution in England.

💣 The Gunpowder Plot – How It Unfolded

The plot began to unravel when an anonymous letter warned Catholic Lord William Parker, 4th Baron Monteagle, to avoid Parliament. The letter, believed to have been written by Francis Tresham, was quickly made public, leading to an immediate search of Westminster Palace.

👀 November 5, 1605 – The Discovery of the Plot

  • Guy Fawkes, the group's explosives expert, was caught guarding 36 barrels of gunpowder beneath the House of Lords.
  • He was arrested, tortured, and interrogated, eventually revealing the names of his fellow conspirators.
  • The plan failed, and the conspirators were captured or killed.

Why Did the Gunpowder Plot Fail?
Aside from the anonymous letter, other factors contributed to the plan’s downfall:

  • Increased security and surveillance around Parliament.
  • Poor communication among the conspirators.
  • Delays in execution, which gave authorities time to investigate.

👥 Who Were the Gunpowder Plot Conspirators?

The plot was organized by Robert Catesby and involved 13 key conspirators, including:

🔥 Guy Fawkes – Explosives expert, tasked with igniting the gunpowder.
🛡️ Robert Catesby – The leader and mastermind behind the conspiracy.
🎯 Thomas Wintour & Robert Wintour – Key organizers of the operation.
🏹 Thomas Percy – Provided the safe house and supplies.
🔫 John Wright & Christopher Wright – Recruiters for the plot.
📜 Francis Tresham – Believed to have written the warning letter.
🚀 Everard Digby, Ambrose Rookwood, Robert Keyes, John Grant, Hugh Owen – Additional supporters.

🔥 The Aftermath – What Happened to Guy Fawkes?

Guy Fawkes and the captured conspirators were sentenced to death for treason.

☠️ Traditional Execution for Traitors (17th Century England):

  • Hanged, drawn, and quartered in public.
  • Their body parts were sent across the kingdom as a warning.
  • Heads were placed on spikes on London Bridge, alongside figures like William Wallace and Oliver Cromwell.

🏴‍☠️ How Did Guy Fawkes Die?
Rather than suffer the brutal execution, Fawkes leapt from the gallows, breaking his own neck to escape torture and humiliation.

🎇 Bonfire Night – How the UK Remembers the 5th of November

In the aftermath, November 5th was declared "Bonfire Night", an annual celebration of the failure of the Gunpowder Plot.

🎆 Modern Bonfire Night Traditions Include:
🔥 Lighting bonfires across the UK.
🎇 Firework displays, symbolizing the gunpowder that never exploded.
🎭 Burning effigies of Guy Fawkes in remembrance of the failed plot.
🕵️ Ceremonial searches of Parliament, still conducted by the Yeomen of the Guard before the State Opening of Parliament.

🎭 V for Vendetta & The Legacy of the Guy Fawkes Mask

📽️ The movie V for Vendetta introduced a new cultural interpretation of Guy Fawkes, turning him into a symbol of rebellion against tyranny.

  • 🕶️ The film's protagonist, V, wears a Guy Fawkes mask as a symbol of resistance.
  • 💀 The phrase "Remember, Remember the 5th of November" gained global popularity.
  • 💡 The mask has since been adopted by activists, protest movements, and hackers, including Anonymous.

📜 Did You Know? Lesser-Known Gunpowder Plot Facts

📌 Guy Fawkes was NOT the leader – He was the explosives expert; Robert Catesby was the mastermind.
📌 The plot was nearly successful – If not for the anonymous warning letter, the attack could have changed British history.
📌 The UK Parliament is STILL searched before every State Opening – A tradition that continues to this day.
📌 The word "guy" comes from Guy Fawkes – It originally referred to burned effigies of Fawkes, later evolving into the general term for a man.

📜 Final Thoughts – Why Should We Remember the 5th of November?

The Gunpowder Plot was one of the most dramatic assassination attempts in British history. Whether seen as a failed act of terrorism or a symbol of defiance, the story continues to shape modern culture and political discourse.

🔥 From Bonfire Night celebrations to V for Vendetta, the legacy of Guy Fawkes remains as powerful as ever.

So, remember, remember the 5th of November… the Gunpowder Treason and Plot!

Review of October 2015 Comic Nerd Block Subscription Box

This box Comic Block subscription box from Nerd Block was purchased by me to review for you.

The Cost starts at 13.99 per month (plus Shipping) and gets cheaper based on the length of subscription. You currently get a welcome box with a new subscription.

This month box included a shirt, 3 comic books and an art print.

The Spawn Shirt has an Ebay value of around $10 dollars. It is a fairly heavy cotton, unlike some of the exclusive t-shirts I have received from various subscription boxes. The eyes glow in the dark and looks a little eerie in the mirror. Not necessarily a Spawn fan, but did keep this shirt for myself and have gotten multiple compliments.
Comic Block Spawn shirt

Heroes Vengeance #1 - Comic Block Variant – Cover value $3.99

"NBC Reborn Prelude" Heroes Vengeance from Titan Comics, which will serve as an origin story for one of the new characters. The series will consist of five issues, and will be written by Heroes Reborn supervising producer Seamus Fahey. Selling on Ebay for around  $5-13. I have not watched the show, and have little interest in the comic and know no one to gift it to for Christmas, so it is in my sell pile. Although I have no doubt this comic was well accepted by some fans.
Heroes Vengeance #1

Lara Croft Frozen Omen #1 – Cover value $3.99

Dark Horse Comics features an exclusive variant cover! It’s up to Lara to stop a cult from causing worldwide devastation! Selling on Ebay for around  $12-20. I enjoyed the Lara Croft Tomb Raider games and movies. I have kept this comic for my collection.
Lara Croft Tomb Raider

Back To The Future #1 –  Cover value $4.99

IDW Back To The Future features an exclusive variant cover. In "Back to the Future Part II," Marty McFly travels to October 21, 2015 which was just last month and there was a lot of hype for 'Back to the Future Day'. Not sure of the story line, but enjoyed the movies so am keeping this for my collection. Selling on Ebay for around  $9-25.
Back to the Future

Venom Print – Ebay Value $5-12

The last item this month is a Venom art print! A 100 lucky people (not I) got one that was signed by the artist. This was also something I kept for my personal collection.

Over all this month's Comic Nerd Block subscription box gave me a Spawn shirt to wear, 2 comics to add to my comic book collection, a comic to sale and a Venom print worth framing. Thumbs up on quality verse cost.

Boost your Halloween knowledge - All Hallows Eve facts & legends

🎃 All Hallows’ Eve: The Spooky Origins & Legends of Halloween 🎃

Halloween, also known as All Hallows’ Eve, Samhain, Lamswool, Snap-Apple Night, and Guy Fawkes Night, is one of the oldest and most widely celebrated holidays in the world. With its roots in ancient Celtic traditions, Roman festivals, and Christian influences, Halloween has evolved into a global phenomenon of costumes, candy, and haunted festivities.

👻 The Ancient Origins of Halloween

📌 Where Did Halloween Begin?
Halloween is believed to have originated over 2,000 years ago in Ireland, as part of the Celtic festival of Samhain (pronounced "Sow-in"). The Celts believed that on October 31st, the veil between the living and the dead was at its thinnest, allowing spirits to roam the Earth.

🔥 Ancient Halloween Traditions Included:

  • Wearing ghoulish masks & disguises to avoid being recognized by spirits.
  • Lighting bonfires to ward off evil spirits and provide warmth for the coming winter.
  • Leaving out food and drinks to appease wandering ghosts.

🎭 The Romans later influenced Halloween with their festival of Pomona, the goddess of harvest—which is why bobbing for apples became a classic Halloween game!

🕷️ Trick-or-Treating & Superstitions

👻 Trick-or-Treating Origins

  • Ancient Beliefs: Celts feared ghosts disguised as humans would knock on doors of homes that did not leave out offerings.
  • Medieval "Souling": Beggars went door to door offering prayers for the dead in exchange for food.
  • Scottish "Guising": Children dressed up and performed songs or tricks in exchange for treats.
  • Modern Trick-or-Treating: The earliest written reference to "trick-or-treat" appeared in The Alberta Canada Herald on November 4, 1927.

🎃 Jack-o'-Lantern Legend

  • Irish folklore tells of "Stingy Jack", a trickster who fooled the Devil and was doomed to roam the Earth with only a turnip lantern to light his way.
  • Irish immigrants brought the legend to America, where pumpkins replaced turnips due to their abundance.

🕯️ Did You Know?
The largest pumpkin ever recorded weighed 836 lbs, grown by Norm Craven in 1993!

🎭 Halloween in Modern Culture

💀 Halloween in the U.S. vs. Other Countries

  • In France & Australia, Halloween is seen as an overly commercialized American holiday.
  • Americans spend over $6.9 billion on Halloween costumes, candy, and decorations—making it the second-largest commercial holiday after Christmas.
  • Trunk-or-Treating (cars parked in a circle at schools/churches) became popular in 2000 for safer candy collection.

⚠️ Halloween Safety Myths & Real Dangers

  • Car Accidents: Children are twice as likely to be hit by a car on Halloween than any other night.
  • Poisoned Candy Hoax: Despite widespread fear, no confirmed cases of random poisoning have been found.
  • Razor Blades & Drugs in Candy: Most incidents were hoaxes or family-related crimes, like the 1974 cyanide-laced Pixy Stix case (perpetrated by the victim’s own father).

🔞 Age Restrictions on Trick-or-Treating
Some U.S. cities have laws banning trick-or-treating for kids over 12, with fines or even jail time for violators!

🎃 Famous Halloween Pop Culture & Movie Trivia

📽️ The Movie Halloween (1978)

  • Due to a low budget, the filmmakers used a cheap William Shatner Star Trek mask for Michael Myers’ iconic look.
  • The film helped popularize Halloween as a major horror holiday.

🕵️ Harry Houdini’s Halloween Death (1926)

  • The legendary magician & skeptic of the supernatural died on Halloween night from appendicitis—after being punched in the stomach.
  • Some believe Houdini's ghost still tries to make contact on Halloween.

🎃 Halloween Around the World

🌍 Halloween-Like Festivals Worldwide

  • Día de los Muertos (Mexico) – A three-day festival (Oct 31 - Nov 2) celebrating deceased loved ones.
  • Zhong Qui (China’s Autumn Moon Festival) – Honoring spirits and family unity.
  • Sukkot (Jewish Thanksgiving Festival) – A nine-day festival of gratitude.
  • Onam (India) – A harvest festival with food offerings to the gods.

📌 Did You Know? The earliest recorded Canadian Thanksgiving was in 1578, making it older than both American Thanksgiving and Halloween in North America!

🎃 Final Thoughts – The Enduring Magic of Halloween

Halloween is a blend of history, folklore, and modern traditions, evolving from ancient Celtic rituals to a multi-billion-dollar holiday. Whether you’re trick-or-treating, watching horror movies, or celebrating with a haunted house tour, Halloween continues to be a night of mystery, magic, and fun!

Monthly Subscription box of geek, nerd and gamer loot

Loot Crate Loot Crate was founded in 2012 by an entrepreneurial team of geeks and gamers and has gained a lot of attention as the subscription service to get a bunch of geek toys sent to you every month for $19.95 or less.
Loot Crate

But, it’s not the only game in town, Geek Fuel launched as an alternative to Loot Crate. It’s basically the same deal. For $23.90 or less per month you get a box full of stuff every month that’s pretty close to Loot Crate. Geek Fuel includes a Steam downloadable game code worth around ten dollars.
geek fuel

Both offer a T-shirt which in reality almost covers the cost of the box, especially if you signed up for a year subscription to save a couple dollars per box.

I'll tell you though, Geek Fuel's "3 bonus mystery items" you get for signing up for a year, the first one did not seem very awe inspiring to me. Especially since the sign up bonus for the Wizard World Presents Comic Con Box sells on Ebay for about $150 dollars (the box also cost about 50% more). I'll get the next bonus item in the next box and the third in my 3rd box and have hope for something more intriguing.

By being an active Loot Crate subscriber you're automatically entered to win a monthly Mega Crate VALUED AT OVER $2,000+!

SUPER Geek Box is yet another Monthly Box of nerd and Gamer Gear you can subscribe to, it is a little cheaper than the others if you use the promotional discount coupon code (Use Code: CHAOS). I have not received my first one yet so can't speak to how happy I am with it.
super geek box

The Comic Con and Nerd Comic Block subscription boxes are probably the best options if you are interested in comic books, especially those with variant covers.

Loot Crate, Geek Fuel or Super Geek monthly subscription boxes are probably the best option for general movie and video game type gear and exclusive T-shirts.

Nerd Block also has boxes targeted at specific things like SCI-FI, HORROR and KIDS and you can save a few dollars with the discount code  MEGTURNEY. Meg Turney is a cosplayer and Nerd Block unboxer .

Wet n’ Wild Water Park Review - Glendale Arizona

Wet n’ Wild (now Six Flags Hurricane Harbor) is the largest waterpark in Arizona and my kids and I have been a season pass holders since 2012. I have become increasingly more and more disappointed as the years go by.

📍 Location: 4243 W Pinnacle Peak Rd, Glendale, AZ 85310
🎟️ Admission: Pricey—opt for a season pass for the best value

The Biggest Disappointments & Tips to Improve Your Visit

🚫 Crazy Cactus Roaring River = Not So Roaring

  • After the big remodel hype, this lazy river remains just that—lazy. No rapids, no real excitement, making it a letdown for anyone expecting a real tubing adventure.

💰 Expensive Food & Parking – Bring Your Own

  • Food is overpriced, so I recommend bringing your own food in an ice chest and eating in your car. We usually get a hand stamp and drive to McDonald's (just a mile away) for a much cheaper meal.
  • Parking is $8 unless you have a Gold Season Pass (then it’s free).
  • Golfland Sunsplash Water Park offers FREE parking, making it a better value in this regard.

👟 Scorching Hot & Slippery Ground – Wear Water Shoes

  • The cement is dangerously hot and not slip-resistant. Flip-flops are dangerous, so bring slip-on water shoes with traction for safety.

Long Ride Lines & Frequent Shutdowns

  • Wait times average 45 minutes, but rides frequently shut down due to conveyor belt failures or guest injuries.
  • Twice in one day, I was near the top of a slide after a long wait, only to have the ride suddenly close.

🔒 Locker Fees Are Outrageous

  • A small locker costs $8—which is steep just to store a wallet, purse, or phone.

💸 Total Cost Adds Up Quickly

  • Expect to spend $75-$100 per person after factoring in single-day admission, food, drinks, parking, tube rentals, and locker fees.

What’s Good About Hurricane Harbor Phoenix?

Large Variety of Rides – Whether you're a thrill-seeker or a "scaredy cat", there are plenty of water attractions for all ages.
Dive-In Movies – Floating in the wave pool while watching a family-friendly movie ($6 for a tube) is a great way to end the day.
Plenty of Shade & Misting Systems – The park does have shaded areas and misters, though they aren’t always turned on when needed.
Gold Season Pass Perks – If you're going more than twice, a season pass with free parking helps offset the cost.

Wet 'n' Wild is now Six Flags Hurricane Harbor, the water park was bought by Six Flags Entertainment Corp. (NYSE: SIX) in May 2018.

A review of The Marvel Experience in Scottsdale AZ

The Marvel Experience Review – Was It Worth the Hype?

📍 Location: Touring Event – Various Cities in 2015
🎟️ Ticket Prices: Starting at $27.50 (too expensive for what’s offered)
Total Experience Time: Estimated 90 minutes but actually took 6 hours due to long wait times

Is The Marvel Experience Worth It?

If you’re a die-hard Marvel fan, The Marvel Experience: The Hyper-Reality Tour sounds like a dream come true—a high-tech, immersive superhero adventure packed with interactive training missions, VR experiences, and 4-D attractions. However, after attending with my kids, I can confidently say that while it had exciting moments, the cost, long wait times, and lack of activities left us disappointed.

With ticket prices starting at $27.50 (plus $10 for parking), the value simply wasn’t there. The entire experience should have taken around 90 minutes, but we spent over 6 hours waiting in lines for short, underwhelming activities. While some of the interactive elements were enjoyable, this event needed better organization, shorter wait times, and more engaging content.

What’s Included in The Marvel Experience?

Marvel Superhero Origins Briefing – A multi-screen intro covering the origins of Iron Man, Spider-Man, Hulk, Captain America, and Black Widow.
Interactive "Training Missions" – Includes Iron Man Flight Simulation, Hulk Smash, Photon Blaster Training, Spider-Man Climbing Wall, and Black Widow Laser Maze.
3-D Dome Experience – A short, standing-room-only Marvel movie where guests spin in circles to follow the action.
4-D Ride Finale – The most immersive part of the experience, but lacked 3-D visuals, making it less impressive.
Gift ShopLimited merchandise with only posters, shirts, and hats—no Marvel action figures or comic books available.
On-Site CaféOverpriced food ($7 for a basic hot dog, $3.50 for frozen bottled water).

Major Issues & Areas That Need Improvement

🚫 Excessive Wait Times for Minimal Experience

  • Most activities were less than 2 minutes long but required 30-60 minute waits.
  • The Black Widow Agility Laser Maze had a 1-hour wait—while fun, it wasn't worth the time investment.

💰 Ticket Prices vs. Value

  • $27.50 per person (plus $10 parking) felt overpriced. This event should have been $15-$20 max with free parking.
  • The RFID tracking bracelets didn’t enhance the experience, making them feel pointless.

🎮 Low-Tech "Training" Games

  • The Hulk Smash and Iron Man Flight Simulator were essentially Xbox Kinect games, which was disappointing given the "Hyper-Reality" promise.
  • The Photon Blaster Training (laser shooting gallery) had too many players at once, making it impossible to track your score.

🎬 3-D Movie & 4-D Ride Could Have Been Better

  • The 3-D dome experience was too short and required standing.
  • The 4-D ride was entertaining, but should have used 3-D visuals to be more immersive.

🛍️ Weak Merchandise Selection

  • The gift shop lacked variety, offering mostly shirts and posters—no Marvel action figures or collectibles.
  • The 3-D printed statue souvenir was a cool concept, but there weren't enough customization options.

How The Marvel Experience Could Improve

🎟️ Lower Ticket Prices$15-$20 would be a more reasonable price for what’s offered.
Reduce Wait TimesFewer tickets per time slot or more activity stations would prevent 6-hour experiences.
🚀 More Interactive Features – Additional VR elements, motion-sensor games, and better simulators would increase engagement.
💦 Fix Overpriced Food & Drinks$3.50 for frozen bottled water is a gouge—offer affordable drinks or free water stations.
🛍️ Expand the Gift ShopInclude action figures, comics, and exclusive collectibles to appeal to Marvel fans.
🎬 Improve 3-D & 4-D Experiences – The 4-D ride should include 3-D visuals for a true hyper-reality experience.

Final Verdict – Would I Go Again?

I’m glad I attended, and my kids enjoyed parts of it, but I wouldn’t return unless they significantly improve the cost, entertainment value, and wait times.

If you’re considering going to The Marvel Experience, be prepared for long lines and limited activities. While it has potential, it needs major upgrades to be worth the price.

⭐ Overall Rating: 5/10 – Fun for Marvel fans, but overpriced and poorly executed.
