Disneyland Pirates of the Caribbean closing temporarily on February 26, 2018

Changes Coming to Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland

🏴‍☠️ Disneyland’s Iconic Pirates of the Caribbean Ride Gets a New Look

The Pirates of the Caribbean attraction at Disneyland will temporarily close on February 26, 2018, with an expected reopening on March 19, 2018. This classic Disney ride is undergoing modifications to update the famous auction scene and create a more family-friendly experience.

What’s Changing in Pirates of the Caribbean?

The current auction scene, where pirates auction off the Redhead and other women, is being reimagined.

🔹 New Scene Concept: Instead of auctioning people, the pirates will now be forcing townspeople to auction off their valuables, including a grandfather clock, picture frames, and goats. 🔹 The Redhead’s New Role: The beloved Redhead is no longer a damsel being sold—she’s becoming a pirate!

🎨 Already Implemented in Disneyland Paris: The changes have already been introduced at Disneyland Paris, and now the original Anaheim attraction is getting the update.

Past Updates to the Attraction

Over the years, Pirates of the Caribbean has undergone several modifications:

  • Women Chasing Pirates: Originally, pirates were seen chasing women—this was changed so that women now chase the pirates.

  • Jack Sparrow & Movie Tie-Ins: Characters from the blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean film series, including Captain Jack Sparrow, Blackbeard, and Captain Barbossa, were added to the ride.
